Computer hardware

• Mac Studio M4 Max 16-core CPU, 40-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 64 GB RAM, 1TB SSD - my daily driver and really capable machine
• MacBook Pro M1 - my laptop. It’s getting little old now; but I don’t really feel any need to replace it. I had a pretty bad keyboard failure; so I had Apple do a top replacement about a year ago. That included a battery replacement, so I should be good for a while.
• Lenovo M900 SFF - nothing special, it’s now just a Debian 12 box running a bunch of hosted services
• HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF Desktop Intel i7 - Just a Windows 11 machine that I use in my electronics lab to program devices and related tasks.
• Mac Pro (trash can version, 2013) - this computer still motors on. It just runs my Indigo home automation system

Software

• Code and text editors:
  • Zed - Super fast, written in Rust, now my favourite editor
  • Vim - the classic text editor in the terminal
• Terminal:
  • Ghostty - a great modern terminal emulator
  • Zsh - the shell
  • Oh-My-Zsh - the shell configuration framework
• Note-taking:
  • Obsidian - my preferred note-taking app
