I think I’ve now recommitted to using iTerm2. I had been using Ghostty for a couple of years, long enough to have forgotten why I switched. But two things about iTerm2 made me come back:

• The text is much crisper and more legible.
• Its preferences are available natively in the app.

With Ghostty, I was always looking around for the right preferences file and trying to figure out how to declaratively state the preferences.

Apparently, Piggy¹ is offering every U.S. citizen a $5K check if Republicans win the midterm elections. It’s both an act of extreme desperation and one of breathtaking hypocrisy. The GOP is, after all, the party of fiscal responsibility. But it’s not Trump’s money, and he’s always been prolific in spending other people’s cash. This would be around $1T of it. Apparently, congressional Republicans were blindsided by the “plan.” I’m not entirely sure that it’s a plan insofar as Piggy likes to shoot from the hip and rarely, if ever, thinks strategically about anything at all. While the Squeaker of the House, Mike Johnson, claims that the president would need congressional approval before spending that kind of money, other vulnerable Republicans are campaigning off this (empty) promise. The only man who could bankrupt a casino, let alone a handful of them, is hell-bent on bankrupting the United States.

I changed the syntax highlighting for the blog yesterday. It wasn’t exactly to my liking. The Nordic theme we’re using now appeals more to me. I also cleaned up a CSS override that rendered certain code elements a garish green colour. Overall, it looks much better.
